Great Western Beef Expo




The 30th Annual Great Western Beef Expo ended on May 21st with an awards program in Sterling, Colo. There were 256 steers in the test this year. As a group they ended the 156 day test with an average daily gain (ADG) of 3.64 pounds, 5.51 pounds of feed per pound of gain and a $0.35 cost of feed per pound of gain. The carcass data averaged 78.82 percent with a Quality Grade of Prime or Choice and a 66.66 percent with a Yield Grade of one or two. The average Yield Grade was 2.79.
