What's the Checkoff Up To?

Dietitians Focus on Beef's Nutrition

The $1 per head beef checkoff program focused the attention of Texas dietitians on beef's nutrition during the Texas Dietetic Association's annual convention in Houston. More than 500 dietitians attending two seminars on beef, and the checkoff program distributed more than 5,000 factual brochures on nutrition.

Checkoff Promotes Value-Added Products

With summer's longer days allowing more time for cooking, consumers are looking for menu ideas. And the Texas Beef Council helped them get a variety of new suggestions during April thanks to the $1 per head beef checkoff program. TBC worked with three new-product companies to promote their new lines of convenient beef products with radio spots and in-store sampling in Houston, Dallas and San Antonio. The partners also distributed coupons for their products with each sampling.

Cooking School Touts Convenient New Products

More than 3,000 Texans attending Southern Living's Cooking School in Tyler learned how beef's new line of value-added beef products adds convenience to meals made at home. The Texas Beef Council prepared a pre-cooked brisket and microwaveable pot roast for the cooking school students. TBC also distributed coupons for cash off the price of the products in Texas supermarkets.
