Fort Dodge Animal Health Introduces Quality Control Program

Fort Dodge Animal Health is now offering the Quality Assurance Critical Control Points (QACCP) program to feedyards wanting to produce beef free from defects and maximize the benefits of animal health products.

QACCP is based on the principles of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) which focuses on food safety in beef processing.

The QACCP program targets the critical control points involved in cattle procedures at a feedyard. It trains feedyard personnel in the care and administration of animal health products, cattle handling practices, production facility maintenance and sanitation, and food safety issues. QACCP also includes measurement tools to assist in the monitoring or various procedures.

The program is built around training sessions, with follow-up visits to review processes, progress and compliance. The sessions are a mix of in-class presentations, discussions and hands-on training. The videos and manuals used in the training sessions remain with the participants to serve as reference material.

"When feedyards implement the practices, the result is better overall animal health," says Prouty.
