In addition to Smith, speakers on the conference program will focus on Angus genetics in crossbreeding and the option for straight-bred commercial herds, the business of commercial beef production and increasing profit through industry coordination.

Registration for both the conference and the tour is $50 per person before September 1. For registration information, contact Linda Campbell at (816) 383-5100 or go to www.angus.org.

Hotel reservations can be made at the Holiday Inn Lexington-North at (606) 233-0512.

Angus Productions, Inc. publisher of the Angus Journal, has created a Web site for agriculturists coping with a nationwide drought.

"Dealing with Drought: A resource for cattle producers" is a Web site designed to combine resources across the Internet on one site - www.angusjournal.com/ drought. It offers links to research, forecasts, news releases, articles and livestock production information.

"We've tried to provide a central site to which producers can go to find the drought-related information they need to make management decisions this summer and fall," says Shauna Hermel, editor of the Angus Journal.
