The Council for Women's Nutrition Solutions (CWNS) has announced a new Internet resource on iVilliage.com. The Council has a beef checkoff-funded, all-women advisory board of leading health and nutrition experts. The Web site is called The Energy Institute, www.ivillage.com/sponsors/energyinstitute, and it offers women simple solutions to help them lead healthier, more energetic lives. iVillage is the leading online network for women and has more than 4.9 million members. The Council was created to offer women a way to cut through the clutter and confusion when it comes to making healthy lifestyle choices. Council members help women not only make individual choices to embrace a more balanced lifestyle, but reinstate good health and well-being as an everyday priority for women. Through the Energy Institute, women can learn more about why nutrients that beef contains, such as iron, zinc, vitamin B12, vitamin B6 and protein, are important for them. They also can find out how to eat more nutritiously with simple recipes, serving ideas and food sources that fit their busy lives. " Women have been getting mixed messages for years about nutrition and activity," said Council member Roseann Lyle, Ph.D., who is an associate professor of health promotion at Purdue University. "We're simplifying these messages to show women that a variety of food choices can fit into an active lifestyle. Foods that contain power nutrients, like beef, have fallen off women's plates leaving them deficient in many nutrients that are necessary to support the energy needs of today's Everyday Hero." |
