Farmland National Beef has reached an agreement to become a supplier of case-ready beef products to Wal-Mart's Supercenter stores. This fall, beef from Farmland National Beef will be stocked in Wal-Mart meat cases as case-ready product. During the first quarter of next year, Farmland National Beef will be packaging and marketing its own case-ready product produced at its facilities. During the next 18 months, the company will add three new case-ready beef plants to fulfill its agreement with Wal-Mart. "Case-ready is the most significant development in the beef processing industry since boxed beef was introduced," says Steve Hunt, U.S. Premium Beef CEO. "Farmland National Beef is committing substantial resources to enter the case-ready market. Aligning with a major retailer such as Wal-Mart secures market access for Farmland National Beef's products today and new products the company will develop in the future. This relationship will generate immediate investment payback." |
