The top picture shows the Sprinkler System in operation in the pens at Garden City Feedyard, south of Garden City, Kansas. This was the first feedyard the Kansas Department of Health required a dust control plan in the permit.
Sprinklers were one solution- and the method used in the 60,000-head addition.
The bottom picture is of the Double Snake for moving cattle into the double processing facilities. The side by side snakes allow the cattle to see the animal beside them. They move through the system with less confusion and stress. The top edge of the snake leading into the processing facility has a plastic cover similar to a bristle that can be parted to see the cattle, but which they can't see out of. The design and construction of the addition was by Max Jantz Excavating, Inc. of Montezuma, Kansas. ©
