Beef Board Releases Annual Report for the 2001 Fiscal Year

The 2001 annual report of the Cattlemen's Beef Promotion and Research Board outlines beef checkoff programs that spanned the spectrum during the last year -- from promotion of convenience and nutrition messages and products to groundbreaking muscle profiling and other research efforts to a variety of beef safety and producer communication programs.

The annual report highlights checkoff-funded programs for the year and features detailed, audited financial information about income and expenditures, including a state-by-state revenue listing. Financial information in the report covers the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2001 and compares 2001 expenditures to those in 2000.

"During 2001, we invested checkoff dollars in an impressive array of products aimed at improving the market for beef," said Beef Board Chairman Dan Hammond of Idaho. "We identified and capitalized on market trends, consumer habits, and new technologies and research -- notably highlighted by groundbreaking developments in muscle profiling."

The annual report for 2001 and those for the three previous years can be accessed online at www.beefboard.org by clicking on the "Annual Report" button on the left side of the home page. Free copies of the report are also available by writing to the Beef Board at P.O. Box 3316, Englewood, CO 80155, by calling 303-850-3465, or by sending a request via email to beefboard@beef.org. ©
