USDA last week announced the availability of the Pandemic Cover Crop Program (PCCP). PCCP provides a premium support of $5 per acre to agricultural producers insured under most spring 2021 crop insurance policies who planted a qualifying cover crop during the 2021 crop year. Qualifying cover crops include all those reportable to the Farm Service Agency (FSA), such as cereals and other grasses, legumes, brassicas and other non-legume broadleaves and mixtures of two or more cover crop species planted at the same time.
To receive this benefit, producers must file a Report of Acreage form (FSA-578) by June 15. For questions and to file the report, contact the local FSA office.
